Safety Research Laboratories

The Safety Research Laboratories investigate the safety of new drug candidate compounds from a non-clinical perspective. In compliance with the national standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), these compounds are subjected to careful, rigorous testing of their toxicity. General toxicity studies analyze the changes in the clinical signs, hematology, blood biochemistry and histopathological findings. Specific toxicity studies are conducted to carefully check if there are any effects on reproduction, genetic toxicity or carcinogenic activity. Safety pharmacology studies are conducted to investigate the effects on those systems that are crucial to the maintenance of life, namely, the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and respiratory system. A comprehensive analysis of these toxicity tests is then followed by evaluation of the toxicity in humans.
